Aluminum extrusion dies are the core tools for producing aluminum profiles. Their manufacturing process is precise and complex, mainly involving the following key steps:

Aluminum extrusion dies are the core tools for producing aluminum profiles. Their manufacturing process is precise and complex, mainly involving the following key steps:

1Design & Simulation
· Customer Input Analysis:Analyze the profile drawings or samples provided by the customer to confirm technical requirements (dimensions, tolerances, alloy, etc.).

· Die Design:Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, UG) for die structure design, including the die, backer, housing, etc. The core is designing the weld chamber, portholes, bearing length, and angles.

· Finite Element Simulation:Use professional software (e.g., HyperXtrude, QForm) to simulate metal flow, stress distribution, and temperature field during extrusion. Optimize the design to avoid defects and ensure uniform material flow.
2Material Preparation
· Material Selection:Select premium hot-work die steel (e.g., H13, SKD61) with high purity and uniform structure.

· Blanking & Rough Machining:Cut the die steel forging into required sizes and perform preliminary turning and milling to form a general outline.
3Precision Machining
· Heat Treatment:Perform quenching and multiple tempering to achieve high hardness (typically HRC 46-50), high toughness, and good thermal fatigue resistance.

· CNC Precision Machining:
· Milling:Use five-axis CNC machining centers to precisely mill complex 3D shapes such as the die face, portholes, and weld chamber.
· Wire-Cut EDM:Use slow wire-cutting EDM machines to high-precision cut the bearing profile and special-shaped inner holes.
· EDM:Use formed electrodes to machine complex grooves or fine features difficult to achieve by milling.
4Surface Treatment & Finishing
· Polishing:Manually or mechanically polish key flow channel areas like the bearing and weld chamber to reduce surface roughness and friction resistance.

· Surface Strengthening:Optionally perform nitriding (gas, liquid, ion) or PVD coating to significantly improve the die surface's wear resistance, anti-sticking, and corrosion resistance.

· Marking & Inspection:Mark die number, specifications, etc. Perform dimensional inspection with CMM and visual inspection of surface quality.
